Your guide to events in Nelson, New Zealand
Sunday 18th March 2012
David Young works as a professional writer in the field of history and the environment . He connects a lifelong fascination with memory, water and landscape in his latest work "Coast". This is a unique novel which sets up a resonance between a departing shore in Scotland and a receiving shore in New Zealand.
Told by three inter-cutting voices, Coast deals with the aftermath of war and its impact on fathers and sons, of the tension between community and freedom, of family and belonging, the relationship of tangata whenua to the land and the redemptive power of love.
The Friends of the Nelson Library group is hosting the talk as part of NZ Book Month. Copies of the book will be available for sale after the talk.
