Your guide to events in Nelson, New Zealand
Saturday 3rd March 2012
A maximum 20, eight to 17-year-olds can take part in this Seaweek event organised by the Department of Conservation in partnership with Abel Tasman Aqua Taxi, and marine educators Richard de Hamel and Megan Wilson, Experiencing Marine Reserves Coordinator.
The trip is a fun day out that takes in learning about Tonga Island Marine Reserve and how as a protected sea area it is enabling increased abundance of marine life within it.
Participants get to enjoy the thrill of snorkelling in the marine reserve off Mosquito Bay, to observe sea creatures underwater and to explore rocky reefs discovering the marine life within them.
Parents will need to accompany their children. A ratio of one adult to two children is ideal.
Places on the snorkelling trip are limited so bookings should be made early by contacting Abel Tasman Aquataxi.
Participants should bring swimwear, a towel, wetsuits, goggles and snorkels if they have them, warm clothes for after, hat, sun screen, food and drink.
