Your guide to events in Nelson, New Zealand
Friday 31st May–Monday 3rd June 2013
Experience the very best, authentic Irish traditional music with Irish musicians from Ireland and New Zealand playing around Nelson and in concert.
We’re in for a great weekend as there’s no way you can separate the music from the craic (an Irish expression encapsulating the entire meaning of having a good time)”.
Similar to the traditional Irish music summer festivals in Ireland, Ceol Aneas (kee-ol an-ass) features a ceili dance, a concert, instrument tuition workshops and traditional Irish music sessions.
The Ceili, at Old St John's Hall in Hardy Street, starts at 7pm on Saturday night. This is fun for all the family or come on your own and join in.
On Sunday night at 7 pm, the Highlight Concert at Theatre Royal features all the festival guests.
Traditional Irish music ‘sessions' will be at The Free House and Accents on the Park, in the evenings till late, and possibly earlier in the day. Sessions are not a performance as such, and provide a lively atmosphere continuing on into the small hours. Free to enter.
See Ceol Aneas Festival events on the It's On website for ceili and concert venue and ticketing information.
