The China Room – Ceramic Cultures in Stoke heralds the opening of another room in Isel Historic House.
The former dining room of the house is now displaying pieces from the Marsden family collection of Chinese and European ceramics, dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. Pieces collected by Mary Rose and James Marsden from 1901 to 1926.
Isel Historic House is one of Nelson's Heritage treasures. Come along to see the displays, hear about the people of Isel and Stoke, enjoy the estate’s original 17th - 19th century fine furniture and ceramic collections, and explore mysterious cupboards and local crafts that relate to the house and its environs.
And while you are there, have a drink and a treat at the Garden Window café at the back of the house, wander the walkways of the beautiful heritage park or pop in on a Thursday evening over summer for food, art, crafts and music at the Isel Twilight Market.
