Katherine Mansfield's classic short story The Dolls House was filmed by New Zealand's most prolific pioneer film-maker, Rudall Hayward in 1973. The short film ( 18min), still has a powerful impact. It uses the authors own words as the narration. The tale of twentieth century New Zealand, demonstrates the class distinction of the time, and shows something of the way of life, styles, clothing and customs.
See it on the Heritage Week 2017 screen, at Elma Turner Library, beside the Red Wall. This 1973 film has been chosen from the selection held on Media Net in the library. Ask at the library information desk for more information on how to access other film material on Media net.
