World Water Day celebrations

Thursday 23rd March 2017

Come along to Isel Park and the Poorman Valley Stream (near the Frisbee Golf Course) between 4pm and 6pm on Thursday 23 March, to learn more about the wildlife that lives in your local streams.

World Water Day is on 22 March and we are celebrating it at the Isel Park Market on Thursday 23 March. Nelson Nature and Project Maitai are working together to help people understand and get involved in the life of our rivers and streams. We will have experts on freshwater fish and other aquatic life on hand to show you the secret lives of native fish. Rick Field from the Brook Waimarama Sanctuary will also be there to demonstrate how to make monitoring tunnels, and talk about how you can help to protect our native wildlife from predatory pests.

The Isel Park Market will also be on (from 4.30 pm), so visit the Nelson City Council Marquee at the market and learn more about stream care and the birds and fish that depend on this habitat for survival.
