Musicians will be gathering in Nelson for the Ceol Aneas Festival and a weekend of mighty traditional Irish music. World class music will fill the air, with festival guests and other musicians skilled in the tradition, all in fine form.
Traditional Irish music sessions will be on at East Street and also The Free House until late.
Sessions may start up at any time but you can be sure to find them from 8.30 pm on Friday and Saturday and after 9.30 pm on Sunday following on from the Ceol Aneas concert at the Theatre Royal.
An Irish music session is like a musical conversation with a gathering of musicians "in celebration of the music". While it's not really a public performance, the energy and atmosphere 'craic' created by the musicians is fantastic entertainment.
A singing session on Saturday from 4 to 6 pm will be held at Yaza Cafe, a family friendly, free, event led by Michael Mackinnon. Singers and all welcome.
Nelson is the place to be for trad. Irish music over the holiday long weekend.
