Your guide to events in Nelson, New Zealand
Wednesday 16th August 2017
Come to the launch of renowned ethno-botanist Philip Simpson's long awaited book Totara - A Natural and Cultural History.
In this stunning book, Philip covers every aspect of the Totara - from its place in the natural world to the historical, social and cultural importance of this tree for both Pakeha and Maori.
Philip's early interest in plants led to botany, conservation and the writing of two earlier acclaimed publications - one on New Zealand's cabbage tree, Te Kouka, the other on Pohutukawa and Rata.
Totara adds a wealth of information and is a wonderful addition to the literature available on New Zealand native trees.
