Off Book

Friday 27th April 2018

a. (theater) Performing without a script; from memory; by improvisation, extempore.

It’s opening night of a new play…
Take Nelson's premier improvised theatre ensemble; add one well know Nelsonian playwright and only six pages of their never seen before manuscript; present it to the actors for the first time, onstage, and see what happens when the pages run out!

The People's Republic of Improv have kindly offered their services to help the playwrights of Nelson complete that draft they've been working on! Easy. We’ll take that script places you never thought of. We’ll develop your characters in ways inconceivable by your great, creative minds!

The night will feature a carefully crafted, unfinished works by a professional Nelsonian playwright. Once the envelope is opened we'll all discover the characters within and read only the first six pages of dialogue. But once the pages run out, that's when the completely improvised, real 'play' and fun begins!

Off Book is an exploration that highlights invention and discovery; the fixed and the mutable, the safe and the risky! All live. All never seen before. All never to be seen again.
