"Reflections" Onetahua Farewell Spit Artist Residency Exhibition

Saturday 31st March-Saturday 28th April 2018

The Onetahua Farewell Spit Artist Residency is a biannual event organised by the Golden Bay Arts Council.

In September 2017 12 artists spent five nights staying at the old lighthouse keeper's house, which is now managed by DoC. This residency was the first to begin with a powhiri. Mana Whenua welcomed the group onto the Onetahua Marae in Pohara. Golden Bay artist Robin Slow shared stories of the marae and its intimate connection with Onetahua.

This exhibition is a culmination of the residency as each artist responds to their experiences at Onetahua. The artists included painters, photographers, a silversmith, mixed media artists and two poets.
