Central Challenge

Sunday 6th May 2018

Nelson Central School’s orienteering fundraiser is back. Designed for all ages and abilities, the Central Challenge is a unique fundraiser involving teamwork, exercise and cunning, but above all it’s about fun.

Spokesperson Janja Heathfield is excited to see it run again.

“Last year’s event was hugely successful with 576 entries in the one hour fun event, 390 entrants in the more competitive two+ hour category and everyone thrilled with the courses. The Central Challenge is also a mini gala day packed with family fun, spot prizes, stalls, games and activities" she said.

This year there is a Corporate Category with an awesome morning tea shout as the prize. Heathfield says she hope it will drum up some competitive community spirit amongst local Nelson/Richmond/Tasman businesses.

“This is a fun way for us to raise money for a new shaded school assembly area since our school hall failed earthquake assessment four years ago. This is a really cool day out for families and we really want to invite the whole community along."

Also new this year is the option to register online. There is a cost benefit as well as avoiding waiting in line on the morning of the event.
