A Century Of Saying Cheese

Friday 17th August-Sunday 25th November 2018

The Nelson Provincial Museums newest exhibition ‘A Century of Saying Cheese’ celebrates many of the quirky, endearing and unexpected images from the Museum's vast Glass Plate Photographic Collection. The exhibition will showcase previously unseen portraits of people, their pets, and places that cover nearly a century of photography in the Nelson Tasman region.
Taking its name from the instructions a photographer would give to make a subject smile, ‘say cheese’, the Nelson Provincial Museum, hopes that visitors to the exhibition leave smiling too.
The exhibition sets out to challenge people’s perceptions of heritage photography and includes digital elements which bring the exhibition experience to life - a ‘chatbot’ that enables visitors to question a pioneering settler ‘Mrs Higgins’ about her life and an app that will help visitors find their ‘History Twin'.
Interactive, fun and not to be missed!
