Your guide to events in Nelson, New Zealand
Saturday 15th December 2018
Theme: Invention & Imagination
The celebrations begin as you make your way up to the Centre of New Zealand. Along the track, you'll discover inventive installations and imaginative performances.
Once at the top of the hill, listen to some groovy music, get your face painted and watch the sun set.
Then it’s time to trail back down the hill, using your lanterns to light your way and bringing to life the wonders that the night offers.
And for the first time we've teamed up with Summer Al Fresco Movies to bring you the delightful Christmas family movie 'Miracle on 34th Street' from 9.30pm at the Botanic Reserve (see separate listing for movie details).
* 'Up' the track 7 - 9pm
* Sir Stanley Whitehead Park 7.30pm - darkfall
* UV Light Show on the 'down' track at darkfall
* Al fresco family movie from 9.30pm
RAIN DATE: Sunday 16 December
Make yourself a homemade lantern before the celebration. Remember to use a battery-powered light to avoid fire risk. Bring a picnic, light source and warm clothing. Children under 13 must be supervised by an adult. This is a zero rubbish event.
