Come to the Cathedral steps to take part in this once in a lifetime commemorative event! There will be street drama, music and poetry, all held in the heart of Nelson -top of town/Cathedral steps area.
"Histrionics" living history drama group will present their new play "Armistice at Compiegne” based on the actual signing of the Armistice in a railway carriage in France 100 years ago.
An art installation, created using thousands of flax poppies will be created by artists and the local community. Bring your own flax poppies on the day to add to the artwork.
The “Wall of Remembrance” will display all of the names of those who served in WW1 from Nelson. Come and look for your relatives/friends relatives on this ten metre long banner.
The event will be held on the first weekend of Nelsons popular upper Trafalgar summer street closure, where cars are removed to create expanded outside eating and drinking areas.Come and see the Histrionics play, Nelson City Brass, circus performers, poets and buskers. Have a go at traditional fairground street games. See the displays of vintage military vehicles. Enjoy lunch or have a drink amid the street party atmosphere. Remember.
