Your guide to events in Nelson, New Zealand
Thursday 31st January-Wednesday 6th February 2019
Luminate is a transformative festival set on a foundation of environmental innovations and intelligent design. Luminate’s Purpose is to co-create a thriving festival of music, arts and inspiration, activating positive change beneficial to the ecology.
A celebration of community, Luminate synchronises with Lughnasadgh (“Lunasa”), the midway point between summer solstice and autumn equinox which marked the peak of the summer harvest.
Since it began in 2008, Luminate has held fast to some key principles that guide the co-creative process and inclusive culture. Our Vision is heart-centred community flourishing in resonance with nature. Even as the festival has grown to almost 5000 strong, Luminate has held to a grounded ecological responsibility.
5 zones of music showcase 200 music acts from New Zealand and around the world covering a wide array of genres. Luminate also hosts 200 workshops including a dedicated Circus Space and Healing Hub. Daily sessions mean there is something to stretch the body, stimulate the mind and spark the spirit at all times of the day!
See you in 2019 for a co-creative celebration of heart-centred community and the natural world that sustains us.
