Richmond Library: Author Talk – Bruce Gilkison

Tuesday 19th February 2019

Celebrated author, Bruce Gilkison, will be visiting Richmond Library as a guest of the Richmond Writing Group.

Gilkison, an invited speaker at the 2016 Edinburgh International Book Festival (the world’s largest public celebration of the written word), is author of Walking With James Hogg: The Ettrick Shepherd’s Journeys Through Scotland.

James Hogg was a writer, poet, sportsman, musician and larger-than-life personality. In 1802 he set out on the first of a series of journeys through Scotland. The journeys were inspiring, life-changing and often frightening. They led him to a life of chaos, failures, fame, fun and literary masterpieces. Now, Bruce Gilkison, a descendant, follows his footsteps and reflects on his experiences.

Don’t miss this opportunity to meet the author and find out more about The Ettrick Shepherd.

After Bruce’s talk, you will be invited to join the Richmond Writing Group for an optional hour of discussion or fun writing exercises.
