Takaka Library: Blast From The Past - Memories of Golden Bay Businesses

Friday 7th-Friday 28th June 2019

Following on from last year's series of talks about old Golden Bay identities, we take a look at local businesses which keep on keeping on, year after year, and are very much a part of the unique fabric of Golden Bay.

1.00pm, Friday 7 June: The Langford Store.
Sukhita Langford tells us the history of this wonderful old store that has become famous by standing still and how it is set to survive in the digital age.

1.00pm, Friday 14 June: The Wholemeal Cafe.
Join Wayne Green as he takes us through the many iterations of the old theatre buidling that have led to the vibrant, colourful cafe it is today.

1.00pm, 21 June: Farewell Spit Tours.
Paddy Gillooly tells us about his family's long association with tourism on the spit and their commitment to protecting this extraordinary environment.

1.00pm, 28 June: Solly's
Solly’s: contracting, freight, and transport all over the top of the south. Established in 1928 by his grandfather, Merv Solly talks about the history of the business and the changes in direction that have happened over the years.
