Are you curious about how an international award-winning movie can be made in Motueka? Hear writer/director Stef Harris talk about his process to produce the international award winning film Blue Moon.
Stef knew he needed the support of Motueka to make the project a success. He wrote an 8 page treatment and recruited professional actors who worked for free because they loved the story.
Over the next 12 months he brought together a local team of professional and first time film makers. Stef wrote a fresh draft of the script every month and raced against his own deadline toward shoot day.
One key to success was limiting the story to the single location of a Motueka gas station and shooting in (almost) real time.
The story unfolds over one night from 4.20 am to 6 am. Shot on an iPhone over 6 nights with a budget of $12,000, Blue Moon went on to screen in the NZ International Film Festival and numerous other festivals around the world including the Houston International Film Festival where it won a Gold Remi Award.
Meet Stef Harris and find out about the amazing journey he took to create a successful film, right here in Motueka.
