Motueka and District Museum specialises in local history with emphasis on productivity over the years of Tobacco, Horticulture, Forestry and more. The Museum also has sales of local history books and cards etc. The Motueka District Museum was included in the 18th edition of Lonely Planet New Zealand guidebook.
The Motueka Historical Society also has local archives and a research room at the Museum.
Entry is by donation. Opening hours in summer are Monday to Friday 10am to 3pm and Sunday 10am to 2pm.
There is a major exhibition on the Fishing industry and running from November 2019 to June 2020. Fishing in the district covering ancient and modern techniques.
