Experience the very best in authentic traditional Irish music “the pure drop” with internationally acclaimed musicians at the Ceol Aneas Festival.
The Festival Highlight Concert will be at The Nelson Centre of Musical Arts at 7pm Sunday, and will feature an exciting line up of festival guests including Steph Geremia (flute), Ben Gunnery (fiddle), Tad Sargeant (guitar and bouzouki), Aisling Vaughan (whistle and concertina), Muireann Banks (banjo) and Dara O'Coisdealabha (accordion). Tickets will be available from Ticket Direct and the Nelson Centre of Musical Arts.
A Ceili Dance, with live musicians, will be held on Saturday from 7pm onwards and is fun for everyone.
Traditional Irish music ‘sessions' will be from 8 pm till late at The Free House, the Workshop and the Wakatu Hotel. Highly regarded world-wide, the Ceol Aneas Festival attracts skilled musicians to Nelson and the sessions, with festival guests included, provide a lively atmosphere continuing on into the small hours. Free to enter.
A singing session, focussing on Irish singing, welcoming all, family friendly and free to enter will be held on Saturday from 3.30-5.30pm (venue to be confirmed).
Ceol Aneas pronounced (kee-ol an-ass) is Irish Gaelic for Music (Ceol) of the South.
