Murchison Library: Book Spine Poetry Competition

Monday 14th December 2020-Sunday 14th February 2021

Take part in this fun poetry competition for all ages.

Book Spine Poetry is a form of “found” poetry that is not only fun but easy.

Simply stack some books with interesting titles written on the spines, one on top of the other, to form a poem. You can use any combination of books – non-fiction, fiction, children’s books, adults books, library books, books from home – whatever combination that creates a poem you like!

There are three categories of entries:
1. Child (ages 0-12)
2. Teen (ages 13-17)
3. Adult (ages 18+)

Drop your poem off at your local library (along with your name, age bracket and contact details) by 14 February, or email them to pania.walton@tasman.govt.nz.

You can either write your poems down, or take a photo of your poetic stack of book titles and send it to us.

It’s free to take part and anyone can enter.

Terms and conditions apply.
