Tunk's first performance in Nelson since her former band BlackSandDiva wowed audiences at Woolaston Jazz Festival she returns with the iconic sound of gun slinging guitarist and banjo blues of Gavin Dowling (The Dirty Sweets) by her side, along with a heavyweight rhythm section, and announcing special guest Krissy Jackson on fiddle - (The Eastern, Hot Diggity, Albi & The Wolves) - Catherine Tunks & her ‘Bona Fide Band' hit the South Island this summer and celebrate the release of the blues/country soul single 'Pay No Heed'.
Slected by BLuesfest Touring to support legendary UK BLuesman John Mayall - A prolific NZ songwriter and self-described musical gypsy, she has performed and recorded in Ireland, Germany, the South Pacific, and the US. Receiving two song-writing award nominations (ISC / Waiata Maori Music Awards), always ready with a guitar in hand and an ability to tell a travellers tale through her sultry and heartfelt vocals.
