Your guide to events in Nelson, New Zealand

Rainbow Rogaine

Sunday 28th February 2021

The checkpoints are free-choice in the 3 hours and have different point values so strategy and route selection becomes a vital component. A form of orienteering, it combines tramping, navigation, competition, and strategy. The event caters for all levels of fitness and enthusiasm - but keep in mind this event is in the mountains, using only a map and compass, it’s a bit like a tramping treasure-hunt.
• 9:00 am sign in (Rainbow Ski Area day lodge)
• 9:30 am maps are available for planning
• 10:00 am event start
• 1:00 pm event finish
• 1:30 pm Prizewinners Announced/Spot Prizes/Raffle prizes drawn

Each team will be given a B&W paper map with the course on it. Once you have marked your route, you need to fill in the flight plan and hand it to registration before the start. It must have your team number and team name on it.

Maps & controls
The maps will be A3 colour paper. Each person will be issued a map. We suggest you bring some cover seal and scissors to protect your map once you have marked your route. An orange or pink highlighter is best for marking your route if you wish.
