Modern Slavery Talk

Saturday 8th May 2021

40 million people globally are in modern slavery. What can you do? Come along for a talk by Doug Adam from Nelson Trade Aid on Saturday 8 May at 2pm at the Elma Turner Library

Despite what people may think, there are more people in slavery now than ever before. We, as consumers in New Zealand, may, unknowingly, be playing a role in supporting slavery around the world. How can we help stop this? Trade Aid and World Vision are working, with support from many of NZ's major companies, to encourage our Government to join some of our major trading partners in passing a Modern Slavery Act. There is increasing global demand for businesses and governments to act ethically. We need to catch up or we will be left behind.
