Motueka Library: Matariki Poetry

Monday 28th June-Saturday 10th July 2021

Write a poem to celebrate Matariki: The Māori New Year Matariki: Te Tau Hou Māori.

The theme is Matariki stars, the ocean, pounamu, fauna and flora or any other natural wonder in the Māori world you wish to write about.


You can illustrate your poem if you feel inspired to do so.


Write your poem in English or in te reo with an English translation.

For poem writers of all ages.

Submit your poem to Motueka Library, 12 Pah Street, Motueka 7120, or email your poem to janine.gillions@tasman.govt.nz.

The deadline for poems is Saturday 10th July, 1.00pm


Come along and read your poem or listen to others read their poems on Monday 12 July, 5.30pm-6.30pm.

Small spot prizes will be presented to inspire future poetry writing.
