Dammed artists encounter the Cobb.
A beautiful group show of work inspired by a five day artist residency in the Cobb Valley

This series of work from artists; Melissa Davidson, Lois Morgan, Toy Murchie, Michael Potter, Anita Peters, Kate Burness, Pauline Watts and Philly Hall, comes from a particular physical experience: a five day art residency in the Cobb Valley, Kahurangi National Park (Golden Bay) in late September 2019 in conjunction with Golden Bay Arts Council.

The artists selected were from the Tasman and Nelson regions. They covered diverse disciplines from ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture and photography.

The Cobb is a mountain ecosystem (1500m above sea level) that is one of the oldest in Aotearoa and contains many delicate forms of flora not found anywhere else in the world, while co=exisiting with a man made engineering feat; a hydro dam built in the 1950's which boasts one of the steepest pipeline falls in the world and is the back -up power generation for the entire top of the South Island.
