In a fortunate happenstance as one door closes another opens... Refinery ArtSpace is so pleased to present this exhibition

"Prior to the lockdown, I had become increasingly aware of the explosion of signage in our communities directing our behaviours and our lives. Our roads are now an artwork in themselves with the colourful, eye-catching and distracting directives. Evidence shows that alcohol consumption has increased dramatically, as has the number of women accessing Women’s refuges. ‘No Exit’, an often-seen street sign encapsulates the feelings of helplessness in the community, and the sense of being trapped in a situation over which we have no control.
This exhibition is a development of my sculptural, environmental and gender equality directed art practice. We are caught in a cul-de-sac. Our world, our horizons and our control over our lives has been diminished. No Exit. The work presented here, deliberately celebrating the hand-made, recognises this situation, but illustrates the beauty and the pathways that are still inherent in our lives."
