The Dixie Swing band was formed towards the end of 2019 and began playing regularly at The Honest Lawyer on Sunday afternoons from November in that same year.
The Band has seen a number of changes but the current line-up has been a regular part of the group for a couple of years.
The name was chosen to try and explain the kind of music the group plays, being a mix of traditional jazz from the early 1900’s to the swing style music of the 1930’s onwards.
The band has performed at the Christchurch Big Band Festival, the Nelson Jazz Festival and numerous events around Richmond and Nelson.
This concert at the NCMA will be special as the band will perform a selection of numbers that represent the best from these eras.
The Bands mantra is '‘have fun’, and make it fun for the audience'. We can assure people most, if not all, of the songs they will probably know. So let the toe tapping commence.
