Your guide to events in Nelson, New Zealand
Monday 27th June 2022
(One of the 70+ events being held during Tuku 22 Whakatu Heritage Months.)
Inspired by the true story of kiwi hero and conscientious objector Archibald Baxter (father of poet James K Baxter) during World War 1, this theatrical debate discusses war; the winners (the gun sellers) and the losers (all of us!). Mixing music with masks, while weaving in song and satire, the painful stories of a century ago still echo into our present day. LEST WE FORGET, LEST WE REMEMBER.
PLUS: Well-known local poet Mark Raffills will perform his famous rendition of Mark Twain’s timeless poem 'The War Prayer'.
Arts For Peace: Half of the profits will go to humanitarian peace organisations in Ukraine and Iraq.
Runs at Green, Orange or Red. My Vaccine Passes not required. Masks to be worn.
