An illustrated talk by Te Papa Senior Curator, fashion historian and 2022 Ockham NZ Book Award winning author, Claire Regnault on her most recent book 'Dressed: Fashionable dress in Aotearoa New Zealand 1840 to 1910'.
She will share stories about the personalities behind key collection items which feature in Dressed including Nelson’s own Georgina Monro and the indomitable Madame Bottenelli.
Preceding the talk will be a prizegiving for the Secret Lives Short Story competition run by Broadgreen Historic House, where writers were invited to create the backstories of two 1950s evening gowns from the Broadgreen collection
