David Briggs has written a compelling tale of a fight for freedom and safety.
A young Kurdish woman, Zarrin, has brought shame on her family. Fearing for her life, she flees to the border with Turkey, where she finds herself in a refugee camp. There, Elend, is born. Escaping the camp, Zarrin and Elend head for Europe, hoping to find refuge there. But Zarrin is betrayed over and over as she moves from job to job, living hand to mouth - exploited, unappreciated but, importantly, largely unnoticed. At last Zarrin’s fortunes change and she finds happiness and companionship. However her happiness is crushed when she is outed by one of her friends and finds herself pursued once more.
