Multi-Rhythmic Fluidity by Penelope Civil

Monday 6th November-Saturday 2nd December 2023

The work in this exhibition explores the idea of multi-rhythmic abstract painting. This approach to painting reflects my observation that the everyday experience of life is multi-rhythmic, with rhythm able to assume an expansive meaning that has a presence in all aspects of life. Rhythmic orientation has been described within theoretical and interdisciplinary dialogue, as a stance that seeks inclusivity in the negotiation of contradictions or differences that exist within frameworks of multiplicity and diversity.

The words ‘polarisation’ and ‘uncertainty’ have been used to express the ‘out-of-sync’ aspects of the socio-political and environment landscape. The need for coexistence and the questions it brings forth are an ever-present concern.

An opening celebration for Penelope will be held on Monday 6th November at 5.30pm. All Welcome.
