Tahunanui Youth Park was developed after more than 100 young people submitted their ideas, through a competition held earlier in 2011.

The Youth Park, located at Tahunanui Reserve, replaced a skateboard half pipe that was removed because of the increasing maintenance cost and limited use.

The park has been designed as a multiuse space that caters for a variety of activities and will include a nine square, a lookout tower, a basketball hoop or multi-goal and a climbing structure to add physical challenges and a sense of adventure to the park.

A sheltered seating area in the centre of the park is designed to chill-out and watch surrounding activities. There is also be grass areas to hang out and relax.
