Your guide to events in Nelson, New Zealand
Monday 6th-Friday 10th May 2024
Published in 1938 in the Woodworker Magazine, the well-respected maker and prolific author Charles Hayworth wrote:
“Perhaps there is nothing which so quickly reveals the quality of a piece of woodwork as the fitting of its drawer”.
Participants will be making a small sample drawer to enable them to explore the finer points of drawer construction and fitting.
The course will also include:
- selecting and preparing the stock
- truing the parts in preparation for laying out
- hand cutting dovetails
- the approach to gluing up the drawer
- approaches to drawer slips and bottoms
- the final fitting of the drawer to a simple box
- review of carcass construction
- correcting faults
