"A Shell World"

Friday 20th September 2024

An illustrated presentation by Heather Smith, "The Shell Lady", about her passion for shell collecting, and how that grew into scientific research, culminating in volunteer work in Conchology at Auckland Museum.

Her presentation will be light-hearted yet educational, weaving together her considerable knowledge of every aspect of shellfish life, and of shellfish you've never heard of, with tales from her journeys all over the world in search of specimens.

There will also be a display of some of the 4000 shells she has collected.
