Woodworking Basics

Saturday 6th-Tuesday 9th April 2024

In this course you will learn how to make the set project of a small decorative box using a variety of hand tools and some of the workshop machinery to produce this attractive project to take home.  

There will be some opportunity for you to individualise the box to suit it your own taste.  Some time will be spent on the ‘look of your project’ – we will look at some decorative techniques, and the finishing of your project.

Students will be provided with a full toolkit and all materials are included in the course fee.

Skills covered:

Hand tools

Machining – table saw / bandsaw / thicknesser

Finishing techniques

The course is an introduction to fine woodworking skills with an emphasis on the use of hand tools and simple, easy to use machines like the bandsaw, table saw and thicknesser. The box project will incorporate all the skills learnt during the 4-day course.

Group bookings can be arranged – if you would like to come for a long weekend course with a group of 6-8 friends please get in touch to make arrangements.
