Your guide to events in Nelson, New Zealand
Thursday 9th-Friday 10th January 2025
Tutored by Colleen Plank low impact dyeing gives the opportunity to create unexpected colours and imprinted designs using sustainable practices.
During this hands-on workshop, you will use local plants and found materials to create subtle colours on cellulose (cotton & linen) and protein (wool & silk) fibres, fabrics and paper.
The techniques you learn are suitable to be applied to clothing, accessories, furnishings, or for incorporating into textile collage, patchwork, quilting and felt making.
The eco-dyed yarns yield beautiful soft and harmonious colours, these can be used for knitting, crocheting and embellishments.
Discover the magic of leaf prints using the ‘bundle’ technique on natural fabrics.
Colleen has had many years experimenting with natural dyeing, and creating art works that have been exhibited nationally and internationally.
Colleen will be sharing many tips and a variety of techniques that you can use in your own practice, including eco dyed paper which is fantastic for incorporating into creative bookbinding.
Additional $20 small materials charge paid direct to the tutor.
