Farewell Spit Tours

Come with us to a special place, our most popular tour is Farewell Spit Eco tour which visits Cape Farewell, the South Island’s most northern point.

The tours which travel the length of the spit stop to climb one of the huge dunes and for refreshments at our lighthouse keeper’s cottage in the shadow of the lighthouse. Whilst on the Lighthouse reserve we have time to explore, soak up the atmosphere and see the lenses which were once in the top of the tower. There is also a pouwhenua placed by the local iwi to indicate their connection to the spit, and nearby a panel explaining some of their legends.

Muffins and hot drinks are included in the tour price and lunches can be provided for a small extra charge if we are on the Spit during the middle of the day. Our guides are passionate about the spit and are committed to ensuring that you get the most out of your experience. Join us, smell the sea air, feel the breeze on your face and the sand between your toes!

Farewell Spit's beauty is equalled by the gruelling nature of the driving conditions. Sand, salt and sea-spray take their toll - but with the RL Bedfords which are the mainstay of our fleet we have a vehicle which is both robust and comfortable.
