Nelson Fringe Festival: Moonbeanz

Wednesday 20th-Thursday 21st March 2024

Auckland based collaborators, Dixie Dolejs and Micheal Young, present their Moonbeanz show, sharing the pleasure pursuit, 'how' and 'why', of creating poetry and songs that just might tell the truth, awaken emotions, arouse the senses, and revive your smile.

In 2023 Dixie was a finalist in the World of Music and Dance NZ (WOMAD) World of Words Poetry Slam performing her original poem on stage at WOMAD 2023. Dixie and Micheal were invited to share their original poetry and songs for NZ National Poetry Day.

Dixie and Micheal describe their songs as genre diverse. Their song 'What It Does’ was a finalist in the 2021 New Zealand Country Music (MLT songwriting) Awards and was performed by Micheal Young to a sold out St James Theatre alongside fellow finalists Tami Neilson, Jenny Mitchell and Marion Burns. ‘What It Does’ toured with uniquely Kiwi Americana folk band ‘Albi and The Wolves’ throughout NZ for Music Month of May, Art on Tour 2022 and again in 2023 in NZ and Australia.
