Art historian Jane Vial reveals the story behind local stonemason and sculptor George Miller’s impact on Nelson’s heritage.
From a family of stonemasons, Miller (1872 – 1949) designed monuments and carved marble and wooden frontages, including the NMIT eagles in Hardy Street and moulded small sculptures of Maori. Jane’s illustrated talk will show the significance of architectural ornament found in Nelson city.
