Nelson Decorative and Fine Arts Society

Wednesday 17th April 2024

A 60 minute power point lecture 'Marc Chagall; Paris and the Russian Avant-Garde' presented by Dr Natalia Murray - followed by a glass of wine and a sandwich.

Paris in the 1910's was the chosen city for many Russian avant-garde artists, including Marc Chagall. It provided the young painter with a pool of experimental work, which he enriched with his own cultural references.

He lived and worked in Paris most of his long and eventful life - here he accomplished such important commissions as the ceiling of the Paris Opera theatre.
