Six Extinctions: Explore the Events That Changed the World

Saturday 9th November 2024-Sunday 9th February 2025

Step back in time to discover the mass extinctions that have shaped Earth’s history.

Journey through 485 million years exploring an incredible collection of replica fossils, meeting some of the top predators of each geological period, including Dunkleosteus, a giant armoured fish that terrorised the seas, Inostrancevia, a tiger-sized sabre-toothed beast, Postosuchus, a huge crocodile-like carnivorous reptile and a life size replica of the largest Tyrannosaurus Rex ever found!

Learn about the powerful forces that caused the previous five mass extinctions and shaped our world, from asteroid impacts to volcanic super-eruptions.

Although these catastrophic events are a natural part of life on Earth, Six Extinctions shines a spotlight on the sixth and current extinction crisis – the first caused by a single species: humans.

With climate change now posing the greatest threat to life since these previous extinction events, this exhibition challenges us to confront our current environmental crisis and act before it’s too late.
