The 12 access media stations across NZ provide the only state-funded form of community broadcasting in the country. Its function is vital for democracy and for the communities it champions.

Sasha Borissenko, qualified in law, performing arts, music and journalism, is Community Access Media's national representative. She is a Wellington-based freelance journalist whose work has appeared in Al Jazeera, the Guardian, the New York Times, North and South, and more.
